Happy New Year! I hope everyone brought in 2012 happy and safely. I for one am dealing with a terrible cold. My chest is totally congested and I sound like Kathleen Turner.
Anywho, the news in 2011 was mind blowing to me. The highlight that I remember is when those zoo animals got a loose Zanesville, Ohio. Has there been an update on that story? The former wife of the late Zookeeper wanted the remaining animals back with her. Guess I can Google about it.
What made the news in 2011 that was shocking to you?

Cute and funny as always!
Thanks, Jevon!
What was shocking for me[Not really though] was the Herman Cain mess. When I heard that he was gonna be accused of sexual harassment, I thought watch them be blond white chicks. Sure enough they were all white blonds except for one. I was like here they go with that all black me want white women crap again. Act like racism don’t still exist. He was guilty before proven innocent. What more was they had a black guy say “I wonder what the republicans are going to think once they see the predatory nature of the black man towards white women?” I wanted to beat him senseless. The media then kept regurgitating what the said. The majority of us don’t all want white people for sex! No offense to white people.
After all the mess that Mr. Cain has said in the media, he gets no sympathy from me.
I agree with Michelle, he was very arrogant during his campaign. However, the problem wasn’t just the media, it was also Herman Cain himself. He didn’t do a good job squashing the news of being accused of sexual harassment. Everyday he would come out with new information (after he recalls). The sad part was every time he and his supporters would require the accusation something, the accusation would bring more and more evidence, causing the Cain Train to slow down (ex. “They are anonymous”, then a face comes forward (three of them); “They have no record”, one of them has phone records of them conversing AND him acknowledging that he helped out with finances…AND not telling his wife for 13 years).
It’s funny that Herman Cain talked a whole lot about others needing to take responsibility for their actions and downfalls…but when it was his turn…he’d blamed everyone under the sun (the media, Rick Perry, the Democrats, etc.). But you gotta practice what you preach Herman.
The fact that I was driving less than 60 miles from the Zanesville “zoo” when it happened.
You still on the look out, Bearman? I would be. LOL
That was better than Skillz’s 2011 Year-End Wrap-Up. Greta concept to do it like that, M.
Rachel Maddow had it exactly right when she started to refer to the Cain campaign as a piece of performance art. “And now for the latest on the Herman Cain art project…”
The fact that anyone even went through the motions of taking such an obviously silly pretend campaign seriously says a lot about how effed up our media and political culture are. (Only Trump’s “campaign” was worse.)
@Jevon:
“The majority of us don’t all want white people for sex!”
Thing is, I don’t know if there’s even a meme for those of us low-melanin folk who easily get stars in our eyes over beautiful high-melanin folk. (Well, yes, there is one meme, but “JF” has GOT to go.)
As for what shocked me in 2011, don’t want to get me started. With the Obama administration overruling the FDA (which has never been done before) and for reasons they even admit are not scientifically grounded; OFFICIALLY codifying detention of US citizens—something even the Bush administration never did and which the government will never give up (and the silence on this is deafening and scary), caving in to right wing hysteria for the 567,835th time and agreeing to offer putting Social Security and Medicaid on the chopping block, thereby surrending the one remaining thing the Democratic Party had left that it could actually claim to stand for, I am officially done with this president and the miserable party he leads. And what a lot of fun that is, knowing there’s nowhere else to go.
Then there’s the horror that happened in Japan (we Americans can’t even conceive of such an enormous chunk of our population dying all at once like that——I estimate that the equivalent percentage here would be about 470,000 people. Can you imagine? I can’t.
The Arab Spring? Mobarak being chased out and Khaddafi being lynched? Who saw that coming last year? No one, that’s who. And Russians uprising! Holy cow! And…wait. Americans uprising!? Occupy Wall Street may be getting less attention lately, but the fact that it’s happening at all is remarkable. Too bad it’s being lazily painted as a bunch of deadbeats and ungrateful kids or whatever.
Hi Michelle,
Great characters, and I love the style you have used… I’ve only just discovered your site, and the world of web comics. It’s good to see fresh cutting edge illustrations, rather than too much traditional action heroes. You have given us a character we can relate to. Bless you.
Aww, thanks, Butty! Welcome to the world of webcomics! It can be overwhelming because there’s THOUSANDS of them, but I hope you do come back to visit here.
